Less tool.
More eye.
Before putting money into ads, we looked at what people actually type when they think about AI and photos. Over the last twelve months, worldwide interest in “ai product photography” fell by 61% and “ai photoshoot” by 42%. In the same months “ai creative agency” grew by 12% and “fashion photographer” by 27%.
The search suggestions explain why. Most people typing “AI photos” want to make them themselves: free, generator, prompt, app. People with a campaign to shoot look for an agency or a photographer, someone who decides the light, the casting, the world of the brand.
The ads tell the same story. On Meta, the ads around these searches come from apps and tools promising studio shots in thirty seconds. We found no studio talking about direction.
Our reading: the novelty of the tool is wearing off. What is left is the hard part, having an eye. Direction first. AI second.
Twelve months.
Relative interest on a 0–100 scale, where 100 is the highest point among the searches compared. Change = average of the last two months against the average of the first two months of the twelve-month window.
Worldwide
Two worldwide comparisons, aligned on the searches they share. Small numbers move a lot: “ai model photoshoot” goes from 4 to 1.
Italy
A separate comparison: do not mix these numbers with the worldwide ones. In Italy only the generic “fotografia ai” grows; the other searches are too rare to measure.

How we
did it.
All data was collected by hand, on the night of 16 October 2026, from the tools below. It is a snapshot taken by a studio before planning its own ads, not an academic study.
Limits
Google Trends gives relative interest, not search volumes, and every comparison has its own scale. Suggestions change with time and place. Ad counts in the Meta Ad Library are approximate. Times are Italian time.
